How to safely remove WoodUbend mouldings

Hello there folks!

By now you all know how much I enjoy the creative process. I spend a large amount of my day in my studio with my hands covered in paint and glue and adding WoodUbend mouldings to any surface I find in front of me. I am happy when I am creating.

When I start a project, I have a vision and can clearly see the path that will take me there. After inspiration strikes, I do not second guess the design and style I want to achieve or the colors and techniques I want to use. I am usually quite satisfied with the end results and the feeling of accomplishment. When my project is finished, my heart is singing, and everything is right in the world.

But there’s always an exception, isn’t there? We’ve all had that one project (or maybe two or three, not judging here), where the final product does not match our dreams.  The time and materials invested in a piece that is just not delivering the joy we were seeking is such a letdown. I cannot be the only one who has experienced this. Please raise your hand if you know what I am talking about.

What if I tell you not everything is lost after this kind of disappointment? I have good news for you! Did you know that you can safely remove WoodUbend mouldings from your project and reuse it on a new one?

As if you needed more reasons to love our fabulous wood mouldings!

The key is heat!

Just like you use heat to activate the moulding before you adhere it to the surface of your project, you must warm up the moulding again to remove it without breaking it.

After your moulding is nice and warm, use a spatula to slowly peel it off of the surface.  You will be able to manipulate the moulding as easily as when it was originally placed. Bendable wood right in your hands.

Hot tip guys: You do not want to char your mouldings while removing them, so keep your heat gun at a safe distance.

Let the moulding cool down and store it in a plastic bag until it is time to use it again.

Are you more of a visual learner? Not a problem, here is a video that shows you how easy it is to remove the mouldings.

I want to point out that WoodUbend mouldings will never shrink, crack, or fall from any of your projects. You can only remove them using the technique shown above.

It’s all right if you accidentally break a piece while removing it. You can repair it and it’ll be back in action in no time.

I do not think you can find any other bendable wood mouldings as versatile as WoodUbend.

You can sand them, paint them, stain them, wax them, drill them, repair them, remove them, and reuse them!

As always, please share your WoodUbend Projects. I love seeing how your creative mind works! Please tag WoodUbend on Instagram or on Facebook @WoodUbend
